Built from Real Business Challenges
We started naritholven in 2018 because we kept seeing the same frustration: business owners drowning in spreadsheets but starving for actual insights.
Three of us were sitting in a café in Parramatta after yet another client meeting where someone said they had "all the data" but couldn't make sense of any of it. Tarquin Veldkamp, who'd spent years working with manufacturing firms, mentioned how many capable businesses were making decisions based on gut feeling rather than patterns in their own numbers. Elowen Driscoll had just finished a consulting project where the finance team took three weeks to produce a report that was outdated before it reached the decision-makers.
That conversation turned into a whiteboard session. Then a prototype. By early 2019, we were working with our first handful of Australian businesses who needed better ways to understand what their financial data was actually telling them. Not fancy dashboards for the sake of it—practical analysis that helped them spot problems before they became expensive and recognize opportunities while they were still available.
How We Got Here
Seven years of learning what actually matters to business owners
Finding Our Focus
Worked with 12 businesses in Sydney's west. Learned more from what they told us didn't work than from what did. Scrapped half our original features.
Beyond the Spreadsheet
Developed our activity tracking approach after a Melbourne retailer showed us their chaos of disconnected systems. Started connecting financial movement to actual business operations.
Industry Patterns
Built specialized frameworks for manufacturing and distribution after realizing generic analysis missed critical details. What matters in hospitality isn't what matters in construction.
Regional Expansion
Opened support for businesses across regional NSW and Queensland. Distance makes analysis even more valuable when you can't just meet in person to discuss numbers.
Predictive Insights
Started helping clients model scenarios based on historical patterns. Not crystal ball stuff—realistic projections that help with planning decisions months ahead.
Continuous Learning
Still refining our methods based on what we see working. Every client teaches us something about how real businesses actually operate versus how textbooks say they should.
What stood out wasn't the technology—it was that they understood our actual workflow. They didn't try to force us into some rigid system. Instead, they showed us patterns we'd been missing for two years that were costing us in ways we hadn't connected.

What We Focus On
Our work centers on connecting financial activity to business operations—finding the story in your numbers rather than just organizing them differently.
How We Actually Work
We don't sell software subscriptions or push standardized packages. Most of our engagements start with understanding what questions you're trying to answer—not what reports you think you need. Sometimes that's "why are margins shrinking despite steady revenue?" Other times it's "which customer segments are actually profitable versus just high-volume?"
The analysis itself usually takes between four to eight weeks, depending on data complexity and business size. We work with your existing systems rather than requiring massive changes. You'll get documentation you can actually use, not consultant-speak that needs translation.
And we're available afterward when questions come up. Not on some expensive retainer—just straightforward support when you need clarification or want to run a new scenario based on changed circumstances.
See If We're a Good Match
If you're dealing with financial data that isn't giving you clear answers, let's have a conversation about what you're working with and whether our approach makes sense for your situation.
